Chip is cheap - COST-effective thermistor solution

RMT Ltd introduces cost-effective solution for thermistors. Using of standard SMT Chip thermistors types instead of glass-beaded significantly reduces the price of integrated temperature control for TE modules and assemblies.


Many applications where TE Modules are being used require precise temperature control. For a long period RMT provided miniature NTC glass-beaded thermistors for temperature controlling. Because of very small size (less than 0.5mm dia) glass-beaded thermistors demonstrate ultra-fast response time, relatively high power sensitivity and low heat capacity. They are easy for mount by thermoconductive epoxy to required position in final application.

The typical mounting method, provided by
RMT Ltd, is gluing to TEC cold ceramics edge. Thermistors leads are suitable for further mounting, if TEC is supplied separately. However NTC glass-beaded thermistors are quite expensive and require long time to manufacture. This can make them inappropriate for volume applications or projects where cost factor is very important. There are another NTC thermistor types that is widely used in SMT circuit boards constructing - chip NTC thermistors, which are much less expensive than glass-beaded.

The modern SMT NTC thermistors have reached very miniature dimensions, quite close to small size of glass-beaded thermistors. But they don't have leads, and it significantly limits their mounting methods for applications with TE Modules.

RMT Ltd introduces cost-effective solution - standard industrial SMT chip thermistors with Platinum Wires soldered. Such solution significantly reduces total price and lead time. It provides almost the same usability as glass-beaded thermistors. Updated by leads (wired) SMT thermistors can be mounted to any location in TE Module application.
