Bulk and tiny - world smallest bulk technology thermoelectric cooler

RMT introduce world smallest thermoelectric cooler manufactured by bulk technology. New type belongs to recently developed 1MD03 Series of high-efficient thermoelectric coolers with low-power consumption. With just 1.6x1.0mm footprint new 1MD03-002-xx TEC is suitable for integrating in absolute miniature constructions. It is possible now to mount it on typical TO-56 header, which is originally used for non-cooled solutions.



1MD03-002-xx TEC is the optimal solution for direct temperature control of very miniature objects like VCSELs or chips in upcoming TO-56 EML TOSA. This thermoelectric cooler integrated in smallest, typically used in un-cooled applications headers, gives a fast and precise temperature control. It increases the performance, improves a wavelength stability and increases output power. With new micro thermoelectric cooler standard un-cooled applications obtain additional advantages in terms of performance and reliability, keeping the same form-factor. The using of standard headers like TO-56 or TO-46 makes such solution cost-efficient and attractive. 1MD03 Series low-current technology keeps low power consumption, which means heat value small enough to effectively spread from miniature headers. It can work in forward and reverse polarity to provide cooling and heating operating modes.

1MD03-002-xx thermoelectric cooler is oriented mainly for single chip VCSELs in miniature packaging solutions like TO-56, TO-46 and TO-9 headers. It is suitable also for other photonics, optoelectronics and sensor applications with very miniature form factor. The absolute miniature size with advantages of bulk bulk technology and low-power consumption make this thermoelectric cooler a unique solution for applications, where thermoelectric coolers have been never used before. By default 1MD03-002-xx thermoelectric cooler is provided with two standard height/performance configurations:
