TO-3
A header for high-power laser diodesTO-3 header with 8 pins is widely used in powerful laser diode applications, such as DFB and DBR lasers. Attached to a proper heatsink TO-3 header is suitable to spread several watts of heat. The mounting surface is typically 8x8 mm2, which is enough to provide a wide range of thermoelectric coolers to install. TO-3 header is also suitable for photodetector applications, because of good thermal conductivity and simple mounting.

The material for base and pins of the header is usually CRS. Ferrotec-RMT offers thermoelectric sub-assemblies (TEC + header) on universal 8 pin TO-3 type with nail shape pins. The available standard solutions for laser applications allow to pump up to 10 W of heat from LD.
