RMT LTD. HAS SUCCESSFULLY FINISHED PERIODIC TESTS OF RMT TE MATERIAL

Dec 24, 2021

   RMT Ltd. has successfully finished periodic tests of RMT thermoelectric (TE) materials, produced in 2020-2021 by own advanced technology.

   RMT carries out periodic tests of TE material once every two years. Its purpose is to verify the compliance of TE materials with the requirements of RMT internal specifications TU 20.59.53-001-68694362-2020, as well as to control the quality of the TE material and to evaluate the stability of RMT manufacturing process.

   The objects of the periodic tests are the ingots of TE material and the pellets cut out from the ingots.

   According to test program-2021, 18 ingots of TE material and 72 batches of pellets were exposed to the following tests:

       • Visual inspection;

       • Measurements of the thermoelectric parameters of TE ingots: Seebeck coefficient α and electrical conductivity σ;

       • Measurements of the thermoelectric parameters of TE pellets cut from ingots: Seebeck coefficient α, electrical conductivity σ, thermoelectric figure-of-merit Z;

       • Measurements of the mechanical compression strength of TE pellets cut from ingots;

       • Test for durability to high temperature (180°C);

       • Temperature cycling test (-60°C /+85°C);

       • Storage test (125°C).

   The test results indicate that TE materials manufactured by RMT in 2020-2021 by advanced technology completely meet the requirements of TU 20.59.53-001-68694362-2020.

   Comparing the measurement results of the mechanical compression strength of TE pellets cut from ingots produced in the period from 2020 to 2021 with the same samples produced in 2018-2019, the following can be noted:

       - for the N-type materials, mechanical compression strength of TE pellets cut from ingots produced in the period from 2020 to 2021 compared with mechanical compression strength of TE pellets cut from ingots produced in 2018-2019, increased by 1.5%;

       - for the P-type materials, mechanical compression strength of TE pellets cut from ingots produced in the period from 2020 to 2021 compared with mechanical compression strength of TE pellets cut from ingots produced in 2018-2019, increased by 5.5%.

   These results are due to the mass-production launch of the strengthened TE materials, especially regarding the P-type. In the same time, RMT continues to carry out developments to further improve the properties of thermoelectric materials.
