RMT HAS DEVELOPED NEW SERIES OF TECS CAPABLE OF OPERATION AT HIGHER TEMPERATURES

Sep 18, 2018

RMT successfully completed development a new series of TECs with strengthened multilayered metallization barriers deposited on thermoelectric pellets.

Conventional RMT TECs have two-layer galvanic metallization on the surface of thermoelectric pellets. Traditional galvanic layer doesn’t provide longstanding TEC operation at temperatures above 125°C due to not enough strength of the barrier against the diffusion of solder components into the thermoelectric material. As a result, slow degradation of the TECs at high temperatures occurs.

New development of RMT is that three-layer coatings applied by magnetron sputtering for the additional protection of the thermoelectric material at higher temperatures.

Qualification tests of the TECs with enhanced barrier layers showed that TEC lifetime under 180oC storage conditions increased by 5-10 times compared with conventional TECs manufactured by RMT and it’s rivals.

New series of TECs, which have two additional letters HB (high temperatures) in the serial numbering system (for example, 1MD10-037-08-HB), are available for orders.

Please contact RMT concerning TECs for use at elevated temperatures, particularly for selection of most optimal TEC solutions.
