In 2017 RMT has developed new series of miniature thermoelectric coolers (TECs) suitable for applications in which resistance to high humidity is required.
Standard miniature TECs are not intended for use in humid environment. Usually the working environment of these TECs is vacuum or inert gases. In the case of high humidity conditions (more than 80%) during long-term storage at heightened temperatures (85°C or higher) critical changes of TEC’s parameters and appearance may occur.
To protect TECs in high humidity environment it is also possible to use TECs with parylene coating. Such TECs RMT can produce on customer's request. However, this leads to a noticeable increase in the price, which is not suitable for many RMT customers.
RMT engineers have found alternative cost effective solution for TEC’s applications in humid environment. New RMT moisture resistant TECs by using special materials composition successfully passed the qualification tests in conditions of 85% relative humidity and at temperature of 85°C without critical changing of TEC’s parameters and appearance.
